Pixel2Print: Bringing Instagram to Life

I recently had the opportunity to receive numerous free prints of my choice from printing company, Pixel2Print, to see if I could use them for my blogging – I have been so impressed by the experience, that I NEED to rave about it to you.

*Before I go any further, I want to make it super clear that I received the prints free of charge from Pixel2Print, in exchange for the opportunity to try them out – this review is entirely my own opinion and I’d like to thank Pixel2Print for the wonderful  opportunity!*

The Power of a Backdrop

A backdrop is powerful in your content. It’s completely underestimated, but completely vital for a good feed.

When you look at certain blogs and Instagram feeds, themed content is always more engaging – isn’t that just how it is? As a predominantly lifestyle-based blogger, I find it really difficult to create any sort of ‘theme’ in my Instagram and blog, purely because my life doesn’t have one! I don’t just wear pink clothes, or drink from white mugs, I don’t live in a white box, or have marble kitchen tops… Life isn’t always Instagrammable!

So I explored a way of using the opportunity with Pixel2Print to create more themed content which could look professional, whilst sticking to the type of content I wanted to share – By no means does my Instagram feed have a consistent theme, but I like to create splashes of linked content every now and again!

I chose three high resolution pictures that I thought would make cool backgrounds – A blue splashy effect, a pink splashy effect and of course, marble. To find these pictures, I wanted to make sure that I could use them, so I searched for copyright free images and discovered a few free pictures that I liked via vecteezy.com.

Pixel2Print then printed my backdrops in their three most popular print types and sent them to me. The delivery and print experience was super speedy – my prints arrived the next day in perfect condition!

Each type of print is different – some are glossy whilst others are more matte. I personally think I have preferred the glossy prints, but the matte are equally as useful, especially when combining the two together…

So what do they look like on my feed? Here are a few snaps of my Instagram feed recently…

To fit into a lifestyle blogger’s feed, you don’t need to use the prints in every post. Instead, I have tied in the colours to a few photos that link e.g. the last few shots have a pink theme, in contrast to the blue theme which tied in from the print alongside my trip to the seaside! And it isn’t all about a ‘theme’ – its about creating neat and tidy looking content which engages with my followers.

Since using this more tactical approach to Instagram, I have seen my average likes soar from around 15 per photo to 30/40 per photo – isn’t that evidence enough that this works?! Here are a few shots of what my feed would generally look like before the prints…

My feed was messy and inconsistent, and would drive me insane! But now, I make sure to incorporate the prints into my feed to help tie my content together more – they gave my feed a natural flow.

Thank you so much to Pixel2Print for sending me the free samples, I will certainly be looking into getting a few more different colours and styles to experiment with!

4 Year Anniversay

Hi lovelies! Can you believe it? Me & Ben have been together for 4 YEARS!

To celebrate, I ‘surprised’ Ben with a weekend away for in his favourite seaside town, Great Yarmouth!

You might remember from previous posts, that Ben surprised me for our 2 year anniversary with a trip to Harry Potter world – I literally had no idea where I was going until we pulled up at the studios… so we decided that it was my turn to try and pull off a surprise…

So, I planned a visit to Great Yarmouth, staying at a beautiful 4 star hotel with a sea front room! All Ben knew was that we were going away for the weekend. I kept it a secret for over a month!

UNFORTUNATELY, the night before we were due to go, my Apple Maps kindly announced out loud (I was checking the route!) “Starting route to Great Yarmouth”… Ben obviously heard, didn’t he?

Nevertheless, he was chuffed, and we had an awesome weekend! The sun came out from under its dark British cloud, and we spent the weekend relaxing with plenty of fish & chips and ice cream. The hotel was amazing too!

Happy 4 Years xxx

Why Some Bloggers SHOULDN’T Do Makeup Tutorials…

The truth behind every photo or video I post is this – my family and I have so much fun. We are all crazy and annoying but oh my goodness, we have such a laugh!

I was looking back through my camera recently when I found an attempt at doing my sister’s makeup when she came home a few months ago. The footage was absolutely hilarious. There is so much stuff I can’t show you because it wouldn’t make sense, and so much stuff I would find too embarrassing to post… and disclaimer: I’m so bad at makeup it hurts.

I really hope you enjoy this little video showing the truth behind a lifestyle blogger’s makeup tutorial – enjoy!

Why Some Bloggers Shouldn’t Do Makeup Tutorials

Ideas?

I have so many content ideas right now, ah it is super exciting! The best (and worst) part of this, is that a lot of  my ideas will likely be done via video – omg interactive posting? Check me out.

The problem with this though, is that I work full-time… and it is winter… so it’s dark when I wake up and dark when I leave work…

Luckily for me, I have booked this Friday off work (more details on my Thursday & Saturday plans will emerge shortly, I’m sure…) So maybe… MAYBE…. you’ll have some new stuff on this little blog o’ mine shortly. Maybe…

But for now, here is a sunny island throwback on this glum Tuesday morning – have a happy day everybody!

Free stylin’ it

Woah, I am in absolute deadline mania recently – sorry for not keeping up with you guys, I’m totally working my butt off I promise!

I’m having a night off tonight and filmed this little bit of free style on the piano with my mom as my trusty partner. Cheers momma. Hope you enjoy this little twiddle of my thumbs.

I have an exciting day planned for Thursday this week and a busy weekend too, so I promise you’ll be hearing from me very soon… make sure to follow my Instagram for lots of updates and pictures of my beloved doggy Gilbert (with the odd side order of what I’m eating too…)

Speak again soon!

Embroidery Baby

I absolutely adore the embroidery trend right now. I think it is absolutely adorable!

Embroidery boots, dresses, skirts, tops, bags…. it is a trend hitting everywhere, and is super versatile even when it is so simple.

I particularly love my boohoo shift dress that I recently purchased – it is really easy to dress up or down.

Me and Ben visited Cadbury World on Sunday and I opted for a little Sunday elegance, wearing my shift dress, black tights and a pair of black trainers. To dress it up, little black boots would do!

And of course, a little black leather jacket was essential in this super bitter October…

Ghouls are goals

Don’t you just adore this time of year? You get to play with face paint and act like you’re 5 again. What could you not love about Halloween?!

Tonight I opted for a sparkly spooky skull/scary gal… I don’t technically think I’d pass for a skull in terms of my attempt at bone structure?…

I hope you like the final look – let me know what you think, and make sure to get yourself some face paint so you can get your ghostly glam on this Autumn!

To create this look I used:

Snazaroo Black & White face paint

A variety of shimmery eye shadows (use as a highlight on top of the black paint to get this super shimmer!)

Grey wig from Amazon

Lots of good paintbrushes
